The governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has visited the family of late elder statesman, Hassan Muhammad Santana to condole with them over his demise.
The governor paid the condolence visit today at the late Santana's residence in Jekadafari.
Late Santana died after a protracted illness on Saturday in Gombe at the age of 80 years.
According to the spokesperson to the governor, Ismaila Uba Misilli in a statement, the governor said: "After attending the funeral prayer of the deceased I still deem it necessary to lead Gombe State government's delegation in person to condole this respected family.
"On behalf of my family, the Government and good people of Gombe state, I convey our heartfelt condolences to you over this huge loss and pray Almighty Allah to comfort us all and grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus".
The governor further described his (Santana's) death as the loss of a strong pillar in the state.
He added that the late elder statesman had made numerous contributions to the society.
Yahaya said the legacies left by the octogenarian will forever be cherished.
The governor had in a statement described the late Sanata as "A patriot, examplary father, grassroots politician and great community leader who impacted on the lives of many."
The governor visited alongside other notable government officials including his Chief of Staff, Abubakar Inuwa Kari.
