Investigate Death Of Nigerian Professsor, FG Tells US

The Commission of Nigerians in Diaspora has requested authorities in the United States to probe the death of Nigerian professor Marinus Iwuchukwu, who was found dead in his house in Pittsburg Pennsylvania.

A distress call had been put through to the Allegheny County Police seeking a check on the Professor, who was later found dead in his house alongside a woman identified as Charce Dunn.

Following the entry of SWAT into the house, the corpses of the duo; the 59-year-old professor and the 50-year-old woman were found.

The professor was reported to have stab wounds while Dunn was found with self-inflicted gunshot injuries.

Punch reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abdur-Rahman Balogun, when contacted, maintained that the US authorities would investigate the incident and inform the Nigerian embassy.

“We have an embassy in the US that will take care of such. If it is criminal in nature, US authorities will carry out an investigation.

"If the police suspect foul play, we encourage them to do the needful, to investigate.

"They will want to know the cause of the death and why it happened like that.

"They will also notify our embassy, the embassy will also notify us. That is the procedure,” Balogun explained.
