IPMAN Benin Chapter Elects New Executive

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Benin Depot, on Friday elected a new executive to pilot its affairs for the next three years.

Alhaji Baba Abdul-Saliu, emerged Chairman, while Godwin Iroghama was elected Vice Chairman at the election conducted during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Benin.

Other executive members are: Sylvanus Osoliase (Secretary), Angelina Aigbokhai (Assistant Secretary), Pius Ikuebo (Financial Secretary) and Michael Ogiamen (Treasurer).

Also elected were: Otunba Olanrewaju (Public Relation Officer Chucks Aghalor (Auditor), Charles Omere (Legal Adviser) and Monday Irhabor (Ex-officio).

Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Abdul-Saliu called on the Federal Government to fix the moribund Benin depot of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The chairman lamented that the depot had not been operational for more than a decade.

He disclosed that his members now loaded petroleum products in Warri and Oghara in Delta, adding that the Benin depot which used be a beehive of activities was now a shadow of itself.

“We will work with our brother unions in the oil and gas sector to ensure that government do the right thing to avert strike," he said

“We are worried that for over a decade, the Benin depot has been out of operation. We will however engage government and other relevant authorities in the sector to ensure that it is fixed,” he concluded.
