Iraq, Lithuania Seek To End Crisis Of Stranded Migrants On E

Iraq and Lithuania held talks on Sunday to discuss ways of ending the crisis of Iraqi migrants stranded at the European Union Belarusian-Lithuanian border.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Sunday as he met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis that Iraq was able to return 4,000 Iraqis, who were stranded on Belarus' border with Lithuania and Poland.

On the other hand, Landsbergis said Iraq was the first country to stop the influx of migrants on the European Union (EU) border.

Since August last year, the EU countries bordering Belarus and Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland have reported a dramatic surge in irregular crossings.
