Israel faced protests as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defence minister over reform remarks.
The growing resistance came hours after tens of thousands of people burst into the streets around the country in anger at Netanyahu’s decision.
The protesters lit bonfires on Tel Aviv's highway, closing the throughway and many others throughout the country.
The anger on Monday was massive, as universities countrywide shut their doors in protest.
And trade unions were also expected to call for a general strike.
The development forced the country's President Isaac Herzog to urge an immediate halt to the legal changes of the reform.
The overhaul, driven by Netanyahu has plunged Israel into one of its worst domestic crises.
It has sparked an intensifying protest movement that has spread to nearly all parts of the country.
Over the situation, Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, a rival of Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel was "in a landslide of losing control."
He added; "We haven't been in such a dangerous situation in 50 years."
Netanyahu is set to speak later Monday. Israeli media said he would halt the legislation, which could not be independently confirmed.
