Israeli forces killed five Palestinians who were allegedly armed in a raid on West Bank on Monday.
Israeli security officials said the raid in the city of Jericho came in response to a botched attack on Israelis that was likely to further exacerbate tensions in the region.
Israeli military claimed it was searching for armed group behind a shooting inside a home in a refugee camp.
During the search, troops encountered the gunmen and a gun battle erupted.
The military claimed several of the gunmen who were killed were also involved in an attempted attack on a restaurant.
Monday’s violence comes days after an Israeli military raid on the Jenin refugee camp killed 10 Palestinians.
Since the start of this year, 41 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli multiple raids.
