The family of Jacob Blake, African American man shot several times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has said that it will "take a miracle for Jacob Blake" to walk again.
Blake who was shot at close range as he retreated into his car is said to be "fighting for his life."
According to lawyers, Blake's vertebrae were destroyed by the bullets, leaving him paralysed from his waist down.
Reports have it that he also suffered wounds to his stomach and gastrointestinal tract, and would need his colon alongside his small intestine removed.
Blake's kidney, liver, and an arm were also affected by the shots.
Blake's family lawyer, Ben Crump, who also represented George Floyd's family, said, “It’s going to take a miracle for Jacob Blake Jr to ever walk again."

Crump also said that Blake's three sons were most likely to suffer psychological problems for the rest of their lives," as they were in the car when their father was shot.
A state of emergency has been declared in the state of Wisconsin by the Governor, Tony Evers, who said that he would dispatch more troops of the National Guard to ensure that peace prevails.
Blake's mother, Julia Jackson, has called for calm over the matter.
She said, “It doesn’t reflect my son or my family.
"If Jacob knew that was going on as far as that goes, the violence and the destruction, he would be very unpleased.”
His father, Jacob Blake Sr., said, “They shot my son seven times. Seven times! Like he didn’t matter.
“My son matters. He’s a human being and he matters.”
