JAMB: Parents Lament Delay Of Mock Exam In Ekiti

JAMB: Parents Lament Delay Of Mock Exam In Ekiti

Parents of candidates who took the mock examination of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday in Ekiti expressed their disappointment in the delay experienced during the examination.

The examination which was scheduled for 7 a.m. did not commence until 2 p.m. due to technical and logistical challenges.

The Acting Coordinator of JAMB in Ekiti, Ebenezer Owolafe who denied the claims of technical difficulties admitted that only the candidates who were supposed to write the mock examination at 8 a.m. had their tests postponed until 2 p.m.

Owolafe apologised for rescheduling without proper notification and reassured the candidates and their parents that the mock exercise went well in most of the major centres in the state.

He promised to rectify any noticeable problems during the mock exercise before the proper examination in April.

The candidates and their parents also raised concerns about insufficient space, which made it difficult for candidates scheduled for the same batch to sit at the same time when the exam started.

In most centres, some parents who took their wards for the Batch A examination had to wait until 5 p.m. while they had anticipated the exercise would have ended by 9 a.m.

“It is a very disappointing situation and JAMB must get the anomalies corrected to avert recurrence during the main examination in April.

“The essence of this mock examination is for applicants to get cognate experiences and do a self-examination based on the outcomes,’’ an affected parent said.
