Six operators of Computer Based Test (CBT) centres in Kano State have been apprehended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for illicit registration of candidates for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede disclosed that the arrests were made after monitoring the registration process in Kano State on Wednesday.
Oloyede noted that the operators who were accused of compromising the registration would be handed over to security agencies for prosecution.
“JAMB will not condone any infringement on its registration flow by the technical officials of any of its accredited centres.
“Over 500,000 candidates have registered for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,’’ he said.
The registrar, however, maintained that the registration deadline, February 14, would not be extended, noting that the board has a target of 1.8 million candidates.
“We do not expect any extension as about 500,000 candidates have registered out of the 1.8 million candidates that we are expecting,’ Oloyede added.’
