Jamie Foxx Poised To Play Mike Tyson In Upcoming TV Series

Jamie Foxx is set to play former professional boxer, Mike Tyson, in a forthcoming Television series about the latter's life.

Foxx will definitely pack on a lot of muscles to portray 'Iron Mike' in the autobiographical series which will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

The script for the pilot was written by Colin Preston and he is reportedly penning the full series which is still untitled as of the time of writing this report.

54-year-old Tyson has wanted to make his life story a biopic, and the project (which has been in development since 2014) was initially supposed to be a feature film.

With the involvement of an actor like Foxx, the former boxer can rest easy that his character will get the true representation on the bug screen, given the fact that Foxx is no stranger to playing real-life persons.

Commenting on the project, Tyson said, "I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time. With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment.

"I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains."

Streaming platform Hulu had announced last month that they were working on an eight-episode series titled Iron Mike but Tyson had criticized it, saying that he hadn't authorized it.

He had called on his fans on Instagram to boycott the streaming site, writing: "Hulu's announcement to do an unauthorized miniseries of my life, although unfortunate, isn't surprising.

"This announcement on the heels of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu's corporate greed led to this tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of my life story."
