January Transfer: Everton Focus On Barca Injury-Prone Defend

Everton is ready to raid Barcelona again with a focus on injury-prone Samuel Umtiti as he has fallen down the pecking order with even Ronald Araujo ahead of him in the defensive choice.

AllNews understands that Everton has signed three players from Barcelona in recent years - Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina, and Andre Gomez.

The Toffees are aiming to raid the Blaugrana in the winter transfer window as they set eyes on French defender Samuel Umtiti who due to his injury lost his place to fellow countryman, Clement Lenglet.

With the persistent injury, he lost his second position to young Ronald Araujo who has now joined the first-team squad.

He is yet to play a single minute under the new Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman since the Dutchman took the reins at Camp Nou.

Barcelona, who had been having problems with their wages due to COVID-19 economic impact. will be more than willing to get Umtiti off their books.

The former Lyon defender's asking price is said to be set at 12M euros according to a Spanish publication.

The payment structure at the club would mean Umtiti walks home with 75,000 euros per week after head coach, Koeman and Gerard Pique accepted the new payment structure.

In the summer of 2018, his release clause was 50M euros with a move to Manchester United close, then Barcelona extended his contract with his release clause increased to 500M euros to put off suitors.

Umtiti could be having conversations with former teammates Mina, Digne, and Gomez about life in the Meyerside but with the recent plagues of injury at Camp Nou, Barcelona may make a change in the decision on Umtiti
