January Transfer: Man Utd To Enter 'Sancho Race' Next Summer

January Transfer: Man Utd To Enter 'Sancho Race' Next Summer

Manchester United has not conceded defeat in their race to sign England talent, Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, though they have taken a little break with the view to restarting the transfer bid later in the summer as he is staying put in the January transfer window.

AllNews understands that Sancho was Manchester United's prime target ahead of the 2020-21 season as they would need a true winger and allow Marcus Rashford more fluidity in the team but that was not possible as Dortmund was not ready to lose one of their star players.

Dortmund has been a selling club in the past with sales of Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze, Illkay Gundogan, Matts Hummels, just to mention a few of the top-class players who had graced the Signal iduna park as a home.

Recently especially during Barcelona's pursuit of Ousmane Dembele, they have been changing to a more conserved team especially when it comes to sales of players.

It cost a little of over 100M euros with add-ons for Barcelona to poach Dembele from the Westfalenstadion and since then they have felt the loss and the need to keep their talents closer.

BVB last scooped the Bundesliga crown in 2011-2012 though completing a back-to-back win as they also won it 2010-11 but since then Bayern Munich has won it a record eighth straight win.

One thing that differentiates Bayern Munich from Dortmund is the selling mentality as most BVB players are seen moving to Munich.

If BVB had not let Lewandowski leave - as cheap as a free agent, the best player in the Bundesliga might still be a Dortmund player and he might have guided them to even a Champions League glory.

This has sent caution and shivers down Dortmund's spine, and they are cautious in letting another prospective talent off the hook, and though the recent dip in Sancho's form might be an advantage to Manchester United both in terms of the amount of transfer and possibility of it.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Watzke confirmed Jadon Sancho was ‘ready for the transfer’ to Manchester United this summer as personal terms were agreed upon and unfulfilled dream might have contributed towards his loss of focus.

"Subconsciously, Jadon might have had prepared for a change. I think he had at least thought so much about it that he lost his ease. But I have found him trying very hard for weeks", Watzke added.
