Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates Congratulate Joe Biden

Amazon's chief executive, Jeff Bezos has congratulated President-Elect and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on the victory at the U.S. presidential polls.

Bezos' congratulatory message to Biden and Harris on Saturday didn't come without a subtle jab at President Trump. On Bezos's official social media handle, he said, "Unity, empathy, and decency are not characteristics of a bygone era. Congratulations President-elect @JoeBiden and Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris. By voting in record numbers, the American people proved again that our democracy is strong."

Trump has, for years, publicly projected a personal vendetta against Bezos, accusing his firm of ripping off the Postal Service and his newspaper the Washington Post of being, like many of its counterparts, peddling fake news. He also publicly mocked Bezos' divorce, calling him "Jeff Bozo."

Trump's insult in 2017 though didn't stop Bezos from attending the White House's tech council that year or from offering advice alongside other executives on an economic recovery plan in April, even as Amazon publicly criticized the administration's decision to leave the Paris Climate Accord.

Another reputable business leader who offered a similar reaction to Biden's win was Microsoft founder, Bill Gates who in his reaction on Twitter said, "I look forward to working with the new administration and leaders on both sides in Congress on getting the surging pandemic under control, engaging partners around the world on issues like poverty and climate change, and addressing issues of inequality and opportunity at home."

Also, Jamie Dimon, chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, the US' largest bank by assets, said that "no matter our political views, let's come together to strengthen our exceptional country."
