Jigawa Flood Committee Raises Over N1 Billion Support

The Jigawa State Committee on Flood Disaster has raised over N1 Billion to support victims of flood in the state. 

The fund raising took place on Saturday in Dutse by the committee whose responsibility was to assess flood damage, raise fund, distribute palliative and establish the state flood trust fund. 

During the event, the Jigawa state governor, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar announced his and his family's support of N25 million.

He further announced the state government's support of N250 million to the victims of flood in the state. 

One of Africa's business mogul, Abdulsamad Rabi'u of BUA group donated N200 million while Dantata group pledged to donate more. 

Meanwhile, according to the state's commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal D. Sankara in a statement, Alhaji Aliko Dangote who was unavoidably absent wrote to the committee intimating them to expect his donation soon.

Dangote further sympathised with the state and victims of the flood disaster across the state. 

Governor Badaru further appreciated everyone for the donations while urging the committee to distribute to victims fairly.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu (Wazirin Dutse) appreciated the government, organizations, companies, and individuals who donated money and goods to the flood victims. 

He further assured that the palliatives and other donations would be distributed to the affected persons judiciously. 

Those who donated at the event included members of the state's House of Representatives and House of Assembly, 27 local government chairmen of the state, Zenith Bank, Jaiz Bank, FCMB, Starling Bank, GTBank, Unity Bank, Gerawa Company amongst numerous others.
