Jigawa: Namadi gifts N2 million to family of soldier killed

The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi has gifted N2 million to the family of a deceased soldier, Imrana Musa who was killed in a recent auto accident in the state.

The Governor said the gesture was meant to support the family and show concern of the state government over the unfortunate loss.

He was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim on Wednesday to deliver the support.

He also conveyed the condolences of the state government to the family and the Nigerian Army, urging them to make good use of the funds.

He said: “The Government and people of Jigawa State share the grief of the Nigerian military, particularly the family of the bereaved soldier who died at a time the country needs him most.

“We pray for the repose of the soul of this gallant soldier and we salute and appreciate his supreme sacrifices."

The support was received on behalf of the deceased's family, the Garrison Commander, 26 Armoured Brigade Dutse, Lieutenant Colonel D. Yakubu, and Musa Muhammad, the deceased's father. 

The Garrison Commander expressed his heartfelt condolences on behalf of himself and the Nigerian Army, describing the deceased soldier as a gentle officer.

He said: “We are most grateful for this good gesture done to the Nigerian Army and the family of Imrana Musa (the deceased soldier).

“May God grant eternal rest to the gentle soul of Imrana Musa and the souls of all Nigerian Army officers and soldiers who paid the supreme prize in the defence of our farther land."

Also speaking, the deceased's father appreciated the governor for the gesture and assured of sharing the money justly among the deceased's family.
