Joke Silva Celebrates 60th Birthday In Style

Nollywood icon Joke Silva is 60 today and she is marking the occasion in grand style.

The actress is celebrating the occasion via beautiful photos on her official  Instagram account. She wrote in the caption: "Numbers are very important to me, so this year, as I turn 60, I also mark forty years in the industry I love. #40@60

"My biography of that title #40@60 is actually in the works. Psalm 100 (40+60)is on my lips today as I express my gratitude to God!

"... It has been an incredible journey and I thank you all for your endless love."

Joke Silva is a businesswoman, director, and actress from Nigeria. Joke Silva, a graduate of the University of Lagos and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, began her film career in the early 1990s. She had a major role in the British-Canadian film The Secret Laughter of Women in 1998, co-starring with Colin Firth and Nia Long. She won "Best Actress in a Leading Role" at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2006 for her role in Women's Cot, and "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 for her role as a grandmother in White Waters.

Joke Silva is married to actor Olu Jacobs. The couple founded and runs the Lufodo Group, a media corporation that includes film production, distribution, and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts. Joke Silva works as the latter's Director of Studies. Joke Silva is also the founding managing director of Malete Film Village, a collaboration with Kwara State University.
