  1. Joke Silva was born on September 29, 1961, to the Amaro family in Lagos.
  2. She studied drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
  3. Her professional acting career began in the early 90s and her first movie was ‘Mind-Bending’.
  4. In 1998, the veteran actress starred alongside Colin Firth and Nia Long in a British-Canadian movie ‘The Secret Laughter of Women’ in which she portrayed the character ‘Nene’
  5. The Federal Government honoured her as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2014 at the International Conference /centre in Abuja.
  6. In 2008, she had 10 nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
  7. Joke is married to veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs. They met at the National Theatre during Nigeria's 21st Independence anniversary in 1981 and got married in 1989.
  8. Joke and her husband are parents to three children: Olusoji Jacobs, Olugbenga Jacobs, and Dayo Jacobs
  9. Aside from being a recipient of the EMOTAN Award from the African Independent Television (AIT), she is also a recipient of the SOLIDRA Award for Visual Art.
