Jos North Legislators Impeach Council Boss

As thugs invade council chambers and molest a journalist and councillors, some legislators of Jos North local government council of Plateau state on Thursday passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman of Jos North local government council Hon Shehu Bala Usman citing gross misconduct.

The legislators also served an impeachment notice to the council chairman citing, misconduct and abuse of his oath of allegiance through corruption and embezzlement of public funds.

"Shehu Bala severally awarded contracts without following due process as provided by law.

"The council chairman, over time connived with some private money lenders to  secure fictitious loan facilities with high-interest rates to the detriment of the council without any approving authority permitting him to do so."

While the vote of no confidence was being passed on the chairman, some thugs stormed the venue and harassed some councillors and a journalist who were covering the procedure.

During the commotion, the camera of the correspondent of Arise TV was broken by the thugs.
