A Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to throw out the corruption charges against embattled former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The judge, Ijeoma Ojukwu, made the threat following the prolonged absence of the defendant.
Reacting to the threat, the prosecution lawyer, Farouk Abdallah, said that the Federal Government has challenges concluding the extradition of the former minister.
He also pleaded that the case should not be struck out so that so the extradition process can be successful.
Diezani is charged for money laundering, but she fled the country to the United Kingdom before the instalment of the present administration.
The extradition process by the EFCC began in November of 2018, and in the month that followed, the international police issued an order for the arrest of the former minister.
