First Bank has collaborated with Junior Achievement Nigeria for the 22nd National Company of the Year (NCOY) competition which will be conducted on Friday.
The yearly flagship event, which was last conducted in 2019, will bring together 12 winning student enterprises from the Regional Company of the Year competition to compete for the FirstBank-sponsored National Company of the Year award.
The National Company of the Year winner will represent Nigeria in the Junior Achievement Africa Company of the Year (ACOY) competition.
The Junior Achievement Company Programme aims to motivate senior secondary school students to start and operate their enterprises, create a product or service, and promote their brand.
Students organise a company, pick a business name, and elect company officials to manage the firm's operations for the length of the program with the help of seasoned volunteers.
The activities assist them in honing in-demand abilities such as creativity, accountability, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, and public speaking, which are required to compete in this competition and prosper internationally.
Finally, the student businesses show their enterprise's outcomes to a panel of judges.
Foluso Gbadamosi, Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, commented, "We are delighted that the National Company of the Year competition would be held physically after two years of being virtual.
"We are excited to witness the fantastic business solutions and companies that our young leaders have painstakingly constructed.
"Our support of the National Company of the Year competition is consistent with our FutureFirst project, which aims to encourage financial literacy, entrepreneurship, innovative development, and career counselling among schoolchildren at a young age.
"We are thrilled to be a part of the participating teams' entrepreneurial journeys, and we wish them all the best."
