Tragedy struck in Umucheke Okwe Autonomous Community, Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State, Saturday evening, as gunmen brutally killed the President General, Chief Hyginus Ohazurike, and six other community leaders.
The victims were attending a meeting at the President General's shop when the attackers descended on them.
According to a source from the community who wished to remain anonymous, the gunmen arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on the meeting, killing all seven persons instantly.
The assailants then set the building ablaze, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in their wake.
He stated that nobody for now knows the reason for the attack.
“The PG and others were having a meeting at the PG’s shop when they came.
“They shot all of them and set the place ablaze before leaving.
“For now, nobody knows the reason for the attack”, he stated.
