Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has announced the beginning of an indefinite mid semester break for students till further notice.
The school authorities in a press release dated Friday, 1st of December, 2023 signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale and obtained by Allnews.ng correspondent also enjoined Students of the institution to vacate the four (4) hall of residence in the institution till further notice.
The great citadel of learning further urged Parents and guardians to call their children and wards to return home during the mid semester break.
The release reads: "The Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has directed all students of the Institution to proceed on a mid-semester break.
“A statement from the Institution signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale directed all students to vacate their Halls of Residence immediately.
“The statement also urged parents and Guardians to recall their children and wards as the Institution will not provide municipal facilities to the Halls of Residence during the break.
“Resumption of students will be announced later.“
Allnews.ng correspondent gathered that Students of Institition had earlier vowed to embark on a protest following the postponement of the Student Union Government (SUG) Election. The students in their complaint further threaten to ensure that the forthcoming convocation ceremony does not hold.
Indepth research by our correspondent had report on grapevine that The Polytechnic, Ibadan is planning to hold a convocation ceremony on the 15th of December, 2023.
The last time the institution held a convocation ceremony was Friday 13th of December, 2019.
