Just IN: Popular Anglican Bishop  And Broadcaster Dead At 65

Bishop Foluso Taiwo, a former communications director, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion is dead.

According to his son, Tobi,  Bishop Taiwo died on Wednesday morning at the Babcock Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State at the age of 65 as an Anglican Bishop of Oke-Osun Diocese.

Taiwo was consecrated Bishop on September 24, 2019, in Asaba by the ex-Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace Nicholas Okoh.

The deceased’s career began in 1980 as a notable broadcaster at Radio Nigeria, Ibadan, as a freelance journalist and Newscaster before he was fully employed as a Reporter/Editor/Newscaster and HOA correspondent under the Television Service of Oyo State (TSOS).

Taiwo grew in his field working in several media outfits such as the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) before he was transferred to Abuja to continue his pastoral ministry.

His sign off slogan then at the BCOS was – ‘ikookan laaji, alakala ‘o ni s’eru ba wa oo. K’a sunre ooo.” Meaning…. May we all wake up one by one, may we not be terrified by bad dreams, sleep well

His priestly duty did not in any way affect his media practice. Though he served as a Canon and Archdeacon of the Diocese of Abuja of the Anglican Communion, he remained a media practitioner and was soon made the general manager of Crowther Radio Station; from where he became the Director of Communication and later a newscaster at the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN TV).
