JUSUN Strike Held Up Dr. Anu's Prosecution - FCCPC Boss

JUSUN Strike Held Up Dr. Anu's Prosecution - FCCPC Boss

Dr. Anu

Babatunde Irukera, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) says the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) strike is holding up the prosecution of Dr. Adepoju Anu, a cosmetic surgeon and owner of Med Contour Services.

Recently, a lady lamented how she is dying in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, after Dr Anu performed an operation on her.

She claimed she was ignorant of the doctor's antecedents, stating that she had been living in New York, United States and only came to Nigeria recently.

Barely a year ago, popular socialite and Twitter influencer, Omotola Taiwo Temilade, aka Omohtee, called out Dr Anu following a botched cosmetic surgery.

Omohtee also stated that she became suicidal and had to spend millions to treat herself after the botched surgery.

Meanwhile, in November 2020, the FCCPC approved the indefinite suspension of Dr Anu upon the recommendation of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Also, in 2019, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, petitioned the Medical and Dental Practitioners' Investigation Panel to investigate Dr Anu after a patient died in LUTH following a botched cosmetic surgery performed by the controversial doctor.

It would be recalled that Dr. Anu was arrested and tried in July 2020. The prosecution was led by Irukera.

When AllNews asked Irukera update on Dr. Anu, he said to us on Saturday: "JUSUN strike has held up the prosecution. Even to revoke bail and take her into custody for violating conditions such as purportedly continuing business.

"We need to present the evidence to a judge who will order revocation and remand her in custody.

"But we cannot even get into the courts at all."

JUSUN workers nationwide (except Edo judicial workers) have been on strike since April 6, 2021.

The judiciary staff are agitating for the financial autonomy of that arm of government in Nigeria, particularly at the state level.

Courts at both the state and federal levels across the country have now been shut as a result of the strike.
