Juventus Axe Two Former Real Madrid Players; Higuain, Khedira's Contracts As New Manager, Pirlo Restructures The Old Lady

Juventus Axe Two Former Real Madrid Players; Higuain, Khedir

Juventus has terminated the contracts of Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira after the appointment of Andrea Pirlo. His first act as manager was to terminate the contract of the Argentine striker, Higuain, and German box-to-box midfielder, Khedira.

After the sacking of Maurizio Sarri, Andrea Pirlo was appointed as the Italian Champions manager just nine days after he was appointed the U-23 side manager. The dismissal of Sarri was not much of surprise as his style and ball pattern does not match that of Juventus making them weak and suffer a defeat to Lyon in the Champions League even after Ronaldo's incredible goal-scoring ability.

Juventus wait for European glory since 1996 has continued and they believe it is time, they move from being an 'old lady' to a very 'young and beautiful one'.

The aim of Pirlo is straight forward - achieve what Allegri, Sarri could not achieve - win the European glory and keep the Scudetto coming. The first step of Pirlo has been reducing aged players with Matuidi gone to MLS, Higuain, and Khedira are also free agents now.

Now with the cancellation of these contracts, Juventus has 6.7 million Euros retrieved, though they will still need to pay them out of their contracts - which is not up to the said amount.

Higuain only managed 11 goals with 8 assists in all competition for Juventus this season, with an ill-fated loan at Chelsea ending with 5 goals with no assist. His best return for Juventus was in 2016/17 season where he scored 32 goals and 4 assists in all competition for the Old lady.

Khedira has been pivotal for Juventus since his move from Real Madrid in 2014-15, he has scored 21 goals with 13 assists for the Italian Champions.
