KACRAN Says Lawan's Incorporation Of Herders Projects Solution

KACRAN Says Lawan's Incorporation Of Herders Projects Soluti

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) says the promise made by Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, to ensure livestock development has revived herders hope in a brighter future.

This is contained in a statement by the National President of KACRAN, Khalil Moh'd Bello on Wednesday evening, adding that incorporating herders needs into constituency projects would solve many of their grievances.

Khalil Mohd Bello said they were excited when Ahmed Lawn promised them that he would do everything humanly possible to end the total neglect of livestock sector in the country came to us like a most exciting dream come true.

"Our total belief and  confidence in the Senate President's promise has to do with the fact that we know him as a man of principles who fulfills promises as they are made because he always stand by his words.

"I know this for a fact because there was a time I led a herders delegation to his house during the 2015 general elections, where I bitterly complained to him about the total neglect of livestock sector by most of our politicians after being voted into power," he added.

Bello said most politicians have made empty promises to them, the Senate President has held to his end of the bargain by incorporating herders in his constituency projects.

"It will be of great interest to hear that even this  year just as he used to do for the past seven years under the supervision of Kulen Allah executives within his Senatorial District, he vaccinated hundreds of thousands of livestock within the zone."

He expressed hope that the Senate President's recent recommitment would ensure herders start benefiting "from our government's development policies and programs and enjoy  the social services that we were excluded from benefiting for over fifty years now."

"In the same vien, we call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Lower Chamber, Gbajabiamila to kindly follow suit and convince the honourable members of our House of Representatives as an act of clemency to hurriedly pass the bill in favour of Nigeria's pastoralists to end the untold hardship the entire herders of the nation are going through due to the total neglect by the previous administrations," he added.

The President called on the Federal Government to redouble efforts toward the development of livestock sector by making adequate budgetary provisions in the 2023 fiscal year so that Nigeria's pastoralists' interest will be fully captured and judiciously implemented.

He also urged other members of the Senate and House of Representatives to incorporate herders' needs in their constituency projects to reduce the daily challenges they face to the bearest minimum.
