The Kaduna State House of Assembly has created a committee tasked with scrutinising financial transactions, loans, grants, and project implementation in former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s government.

According to Naija News, El-Rufai, a former FCT Minister, controlled Kaduna State from 2015 until 2023.

El-Rufai and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, are allegedly at odds over the governor's decision to reveal the state's massive debt load.

The Kaduna State Assembly established the fact-finding committee on Tuesday during a plenary session at the Lord Lugard Legislative Complex in Kaduna.

The parliamentary group will also look into El-Rufai's top associate and senior investment counsellor, Jimi Lawal.

The Assembly-appointed commission is scheduled to investigate financial dealings, loans and grants, and other project executions between 2015 and 2023.

The group was tasked with inviting prominent figures such as past 8th and 9th Assembly speakers, finance commissioners, previous managing directors of Kaduna markets, and budget and planning commissioners, among others.
