Kaduna bombing: Blame military, govt, for alleged cover ups

Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima

The Director of Amnesty International, Malam Isa Sunusi, Thursday blamed the military for alleged cover ups in extra judicial killings across the country.

Also, he said,  "the government was covering up for the military. A mistake happens once or twice. If it happened more, then it is not a mistake "

Meanwhile, Kaduna state Governor, Uba Sani has received vice president, Senator Kashim Shettima at the Airforce Base, Kaduna.

The Vice President was accompanied by the Speaker, Abbas Tajuddeen, Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

They will be paying their respect to over 125 Muslims killed by an areal bombed dropped by the Nigerian military while in the midst of Maulud on Sunday.

Recall that innocent women and children of Tudun biri residents were  recently killed over the Kaduna bombing that sparked outrage, especially in the North.

However, Sunusi affirmed, "The government is covering up for the military, a mistake happens once, or twice. If it happened more, then it is no longer a mistake."

He said there is an urgent need for the whole operation that led to the death of many at Tudun Biri, urging that should it be a mistake, the erring soldiers should be duly punished.

The Director said " The fact that the North faces security challenges should not be an excuse to massacre residents in the areas."

Malam Isa Sunusi sympathised with the victims.
