Kaduna government, Chinese firm to commission lithium proces

Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani has said the state government in partnership with a Chinese firm, Ming Xin Mineral Separation Nigeria Limited is set to commission a lithium processing plant in the state.

It was revealed that the commissioning of the project was part of the state government's efforts to attract investments to the state mining sector.

He added that he was briefed on the preparations for the commissioning of the plant on Saturday by the Executive Director, Business Development of the Chinese firm, Leana Lee.

The governor in a statement on Saturday partly said: "Our sustained efforts towards attracting investments in the mining sector are beginning to bear fruits as arrangements are in top gear for the commissioning of the gigantic new Lithium Processing Plant in Kaduna, a partnership between the Kaduna State Government and Ming Xin Mineral Separation Nigeria Ltd. 

"The facility has an initial capacity of 1500 metric tonnes per day. The completed processing plant is Phase 1 of the project. The capacity of the plant will be doubled in Phase 2 of the project."

Governor Sani further urged the Chinese firm to prioritize environmental protection and recovery to ensure the safety of those living in the host community. 

He also emphasized to the firm the need for community engagement, local content, and corporate social responsibility, CSR, programs in the course of their operations. 

The governor assured of continuous efforts in creating opportunities to enhance Investors' confidence and employment opportunities for citizens of the state. 

He said: "We shall continue to promote investment-friendly policies to boost investors confidence, provide employment opportunities for our citizens and boost our internally generated revenue, IGR."
