Kaduna Imposes 24-Hour Curfew In Chikun

The Kaduna State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Sabon Garin Nassarawa-Tirkaniya area of the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

The curfew was imposed following a breakdown of law and order in the area.

As contained in a statement by the state's Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Monday, the crisis has led to the death of two persons.

He added that the state government has directed security agencies to enforce the law in order to restore peace. 

"The Kaduna State Government hereby announces the immediate imposition of a 24-hour curfew on Sabon Garin Nassarawa-Tirkaniya area of Chikun LGA. 

"This decision was reached following a breakdown of law and order which led to the killing of two citizens in an incident of urban gang violence. 

"Security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew in the said location, to restore order as investigations proceed.

"Citizens are therefore urged to strictly observe the curfew in this location, which takes effect immediately," Aruwan stated.
