Kaduna: Pastor Arrested For Allegedly Faking Kidnap

Kaduna State Police's Anti-Kidnapping Union personnel arrested a 39-year-old pastor for faking his kidnap, as confirmed on Wednesday by the state's police spokesperson, DSP Yakubu Sabo.

According to the spokesperson, the pastor, by the name James Clement, a resident of Nasarawa Trikaniya of Chikun Local Government Area, along with a George Otokpa, was arrested on the 27th for conspiracy and faking a kidnap, demanding a N500m ransom from his family, with George acting a conduit.

The DSP further explained that James was arrested at his hideout after a complaint was tendered by 2 members of his family. James and George, who are still in police custody are being interrogated and upon completion of the investigation into the staged kidnap, they will be charged to court.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, warned against such cold acts, assuring that the force will use whatever evidence gleaned from the suspects to make sure that they are prosecuted in court to send a message to others.
