Sheikh Gumi Meets Former Terrorist Leader Dogo Gide In Kaduna Forest (Photos)

A popular Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on Thursday met with Dogo Gide, a 'repentant' bandit leader who used to be one of the most notorious terrorist leaders in Northwestern Nigeria.

Gumi held the meeting with Gide in the forest of Tagina which adjoins Niger State and Kaduna State's Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

Gide was a bandit cum terrorist with known ties to ANSARU elements in the Northwest region that are linked with Al-Qaeda.

A post on the official Facebook page of Gumi - a former military officer - provided the update.

Gumi's latest meeting with bandits is coming 15 days after the 60-year-old caught up with over 500 Zamfara bandits, and urged them to repent.

Reacting to Gumi's peace message, Gide promised to key into the cleric's peace initiative.

Gide is believed to be at war with many armed groups in the Northwest, who refused to embrace the fragile peace process initiated by some state governors in the region.

Alhamdulillah! May God help Dr today. Ahmad Gumi and his team were able to visit Mina town where he reached Kontagora and then he lost the Tagina forest where they met the leader of the forest (Dogo Gide). This is the forest that made Niger and Kaduna in Birnin Gwari

Advice from the mouth of Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Gumi about the importance of reconciliation and illegal war this month and their request for keeping weapons and banning exploitation in the background.

In his own Jawagin Dogo said this was the first sitting he was made about this kind of reconciliation and he agreed to take it, and witness that Malam will start implementing others.

Dogo Gide has witnessed Malam's kind of things they are looking for, which if they are done to them they will release the people in their hands.
