Kaduna State Has Not Been Renamed, Says Government

The Kaduna State Government has refuted reports claiming that the name of the state has been changed to Zazzau.

The dismissal is contained in a statement by the Special Adviser Media and Communications to the state governor, Muyiwa Adekeye.

He stated that Kaduna State has not been renamed, describing the news as fake while calling on residents in the region to ignore the report.

"Please ignore the elaborate piece of fiction that made the claim. It is fake news", Adekeye said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some news outlets earlier reported that the National Assembly passed a bill renaming Kaduna State and that it was subsequently sent by Senate President Ahmad Lawan to President Buhari for ascent.

It was also reported that the bill which was jointly sponsored by Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari and Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna central got the approval of 13 members out of 15 of the lower chamber representing different parts of Kaduna State.
