Kaduna: Students Disregard Resumption For Fear Of Bandits

Students of some primary and secondary schools in Kaduna State have refused to return to school to commence the new academic session for fear of bandits' attacks.

The government of Kaduna State had instructed that schools across the state be reopened on September 4.

However, some students are yet to go back to school due to the regular banditry activities in the state even with the assurance of the safety of the students given by the government.

Some parents are also afraid of allowing their students to return to school given that there are no solid arrangements for the security of the students in some schools.

Josephine Moses, a student of Government Technical College, Kaduna said he would not return to school until the Kaduna State government takes action in providing security in his school.

"Only a few of us are available. Most classes are empty because no other students agreed to come because they are all afraid of kidnappers” he said

Suleiman Ibrahim of Government Secondary School, Kakuri-Kaduna said he is yet to resume because he is unaware of when bandits will attack next and can't risk his life.

An SSS 3 student of Excel Schools, Kakuri-Kaduna, Moses Danjumais also reluctant to return to school because the location of his school is prone to kidnapping.

He pleaded with the management of the school to relocate the school for more security assurance.
