Kagara Abduction: IPOB's Special Counsel Disagrees With Nigerian Minister of Defence, Magashi’s ‘Coward’ Statement

Kagara Abduction: IPOB's Special Counsel Disagrees With Nige

Nigeria Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi is a retired Army Major General

Aloy Ejimakor, the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB’s) Special Counsel has disagreed with a statement by the Nigerian Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), who said it is the responsibility of every citizen to be at alert amid the insecurity in the country.

According to the legal practitioner, banditry activities in Nigeria is rife 'because the core north and the Presidency pampers bandits'.

"I disagree! Bandits attack easily because the core North pampers them, the Presidency pardons them and most of the Army/Police that should fight them are deployed to Southeast," Ejimakor wrote on his known Twitter handle on Thursday.

What Minister of Defence said, and reactions from Nigerians

According to Magashi while reacting to the recent Kagara abduction of at least 27 students of a state-run school in Niger State, people should show that they are not cowards by defending themselves.

He had said that the operations of bandits are sometimes carried out with a few rounds of ammunition to cause fear on the citizenry.

His words, “It is the responsibility of everybody to keep alert and to find safety when necessary. But we shouldn’t be cowards.

“At times, the bandits will only come with about three rounds of ammunition, when they fire shots everybody runs.

“In our younger days, we stand to fight any aggression coming for us.

“I don’t know why people are running from minor things like that.

"They should stand and let these people know that even the villagers have the competency and capabilities to defend themselves."

Magashi's thoughts have earned him severe criticism from social media users.
