Kano Chief Judge Worry Over Non-passage Of Child Right Act

Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Nuradddeen Sagir has asked Members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Kano State Branch to work harder in addressing sexual and gender based violence in the state.

Justice Sagir who gave the charge when the Executive Members of FIDA, Kano State Branch paid him a courtesy visit at his office on Thursday, also said fugures with Kano State Judiciary prove that the violence is increasing at an alarming rate.

The Chief Judge reminded his visitors that women and children are the most vulnerable groups in society.

He urged the female lawyers to ensure that justice is served to the wronged victims.

On her part, Kano State High Court Judge Justice Dije Aboki, expressed concern over delay in passing the Child Right Act in the state.

According to her, the Act if established will further the dignity of women and children in the state.

Aboki called on Members of FIDA in Kano to consider lives of women and children as utmost priority.

Earlier Speaking, the Chairperson of FIDA, Kano State Branch, Barrister Bilkisu Ibrahim Suleiman noted that the visit to State Chief Judge was part of the tradition of every newly inaugurated Executives of FIDA to solicit support and guidance to succeed in the discharge of their responsibility.
