Kano Government Makes U-Turn On Tricycle Ban From Major Road

The Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has announced a reversal on the ban of tricycles from some major roads.

The Kano State Government on Tuesday issued a statement banning tricycle operators from doing business on some roads including Ahmadu Bello road, Gwarzo road and Hadejia roads starting today Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

However, there was massive backlash from stakeholders, including the tricycle operators, politicians and majority of Kano residents.

While speaking to newsmen at his Kano, the Managing Director of KAROTA, Baffa Babba Ɗan Agundi said government decided to suspend the ban after realizing the company saddled with transportation of passengers on the banned road are not ready.

He added that the government also listened to the displeasure of residents in the state today.

Ɗan Agundi thanked the tricycle operators for not escalating the issue to a crises level.

The Managing Director promised to announce a new date for the ban as soon as the company is ready.
