Kano Governor-Elect Advises Against Raising Structures On Pu

Kano State Governor-elect, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf has warned all those with ongoing construction in public places to halt construction work on public land within and around all schools in the state, all religious and cultural sites,  hospitals, graveyards and along the city walls of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor-elect, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa on Thursday night.

‘’You are advised to discontinue any construction work on public land within and around the following: All schools in the State, all religious and cultural sites in the State, all hospitals in the State, all graveyards in the State, and along the city walls of Kano,’’ the statement said.

The statement also advised the public to discontinue the demolition of and the construction of all existing public buildings belonging to the government and people of Kano State.

According to the statement, this advisory is issued in the public interest, effective from Thursday, March 30, 2023, till further notice, adding that anyone who refuses to adhere does so at his/her own risk.

Sale and construction work on public lands has generated outcry amongst the people of Kano.

Many have lamented the loss of heritage sites, parts of schools and even graveyards sold to private individuals by the incumbent government.
