Kano guber tussle: Kannywood pleads with Tinubu, stakeholder

Ahead of the Supreme Court judgment on the Kano State Governorship Election, some members of the Kannywood industry have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against judicial interference.

AllNews.ng reports that the Kannywood is the Hausa-film industry with base in Kano State, Northwest, Nigeria. 

The members of the industry also appealed to stakeholders to steer away from partisan politics or sentiments to interfare with the judiciary.

A popular actor in the industry, Sani Musa Danja made the appeal in a press conference on Saturday in Kano. 

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Danja who noted the peaceful atmosphere in the state prior to the recent appeal court judgement said the judiciary should not be used to disrupt the peace enjoyed in the state.

He further called on the president to ensure that justice and fairness prevailed in the Supreme Court judgment which is expected soon.

Danja said: “A lot of patriotic citizens and even past leaders have commented at different occasions on the Appeal Court judgment of Kano gubernatorial election, hence we hope our President as a father will consider the mandate of Kano citizens and ensure justice.

“We are pleading to President Ahmad Bola Tinubu and all stakeholders not to allow sentiments and partisan politics to interfere into the affairs of the judicial system of the country."
