Kano: NSCDC Arrests Rice Thieves

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested 19 suspects for allegedly attacking a truck loaded with 50kg bags of Alhamsad Rice along Zaria road.

DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, Command’s Public Relations Officer made this known on Monday in the state capital. 

"A truck with plate number UGG 532 XA Kano, loaded with hundreds bags of rice from Alhamsad Rice Mill, Sharada, Kano heading to Zaria Kaduna state has been attacked by hoodlums carting away substantial 50kg bags of rice loaded on the trailer", he said.

He further added that while the men were taking their spoils along Zaria Kano, good Samaritans informed operatives of the NSCDC Kano command who swiftly mobilized personnel to the scene.

DSC Abdullahi said 19 individuals were arrested and 29 50kg bags were recovered from them.

He explained that driver of the truck and his assistants were rescued unhurt and the suspects are in custody of civil defence.

The NSCDC Image maker further assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
