Kano pilgrims commence Hajj exercise

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has successfully relocated its pilgrims to Mina, Saudi Arabia, marking the commencement of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Head of the Media Team for Kano State Pilgrims and Deputy Governor’s Spokesperson, shared this development in a statement to journalists on Friday.

"The relocation began on Thursday night," Ibrahim disclosed, noting that all pilgrims were moved after ensuring their camps in Mina were prepared and comfortable.

The group includes prominent figures such as the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who also serves as the Amirul Hajj for the state, along with Honourable Jibril Falgore, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, the Head of Service.

Alhaji Kabir Muhammad Panda, Director of Operations for the board, confirmed that essential kits have been distributed to each pilgrim. “The kits include soap, mats, Maclean, toothpaste, and other necessities,” he stated, emphasizing the board's commitment to the welfare of the pilgrims.

Panda also highlighted security measures, saying, "Only pilgrims with ID cards issued by the board, in addition to the NUSUK identity card, will be allowed into the Kano pilgrims’ tent."

The team in Mina includes preachers, medical personnel, welfare guides, and members of the security committee. An advance team is set to move to Arafat by midnight on Friday to ensure smooth operations there as well.

According to the statement, Dr. Khadija Sulaiman, Deputy Commandant General of the Hisbah women's wing, was observed coordinating the arrangement of women pilgrims within the Mina camp.
