Kano Pillars: Rabiu Speaks After Red Card In Last NPFL Game

Kano Pillars attacker, Abbas Rabiu, has expressed regrets for the red card he received in the Sai Masu Gida 1-0 victory over visiting Rivers United in the Matchday 6 of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL).

The four-time NPFL champions found themselves in front in the 20th minute of the encounter courtesy of Nwagua Nyima, who benefitted from a defensive mix-up by the Rivers United backline.

Rabiu has now apologised to his teammates, technical crew, management and the entire fans of Kano Pillars for the act that warranted his red card during the match.

Rabiu received his marching orders from the centre-referee, Muhammad Nurudeen, in the 55th minute of the game for two bookable offences.

In an interview with Kano Pillars official website, the striker said that his red card "disturbed" him, as he felt he let down his team.

“Thank God we won the match. But I'm very worried that I put my team under a lot of pressure for the larger part of the second 45 minutes,” Abbas stated.

Furthermore, he gave assurances that he will henceforth, be cool-headed before, during and after games.

He then commended his teammates for sustaining the pressure and securing maximum points.

Rabiu will now miss one NPFL game.
