Kano Restates Commitment To Fighting Drug Abuse

The Kano State government says it will continue to fight drug abuse and other societal vices in the country.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health services, Dr Fauziya Buba Idris gave the promise during a women's Sensitization campaign held at Hotoro North Ward in Nasarawa local government area.

Dr Fauziya, who doubles as chairperson Kano state Mental health action committee, explained that the state government had inaugurated female anti-drug ambassadors to help in the fight against drug peddling and abuse.

According to her, they were at Hotoro North to discuss with women on issues related to drug abuse and mental health, saying that mental health disorder is often neglected as most people are not aware of it.

She lamented how people stigmatise those affected by the health issue.

Dr Fauziya Buba charged women in the area to be good ambassadors by inculcating good moral upbringing among their children and supporting one another to achieve the set goals.
