Kano Train Accident: Six Persons Rescued Alive

The trailer reportedly rushed into the train's path leading to the collission

Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that at least six people were injured when a train rammed into a Dangote cement trailer at Obasanjo Road in the state.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi on Sunday said the service received a call from one Musa Bello, who reported the incident.

He noted that the preliminary investigation revealed that a passenger train coming from Lagos to Kano collided with a trailer vehicle conveying Dangote Cement with an unknown registration number.

According to the statement, a tricycle machine with registration number; Kano State Government, KAROTA Number 2153 was also involved in the accident.

Saminu affirmed that the six persons were rescued by their officials and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

”Victims affected include; Abdulwahabu Jibrin 32 years old, Tricycle driver, Zainab Yakubu of about 48 years old, Tricycle passenger, Khadija Yakubu of about 15 years old, passenger and Hafsat Nafi’u of about eight years old, passenger," the statement said.

"While Lawan Bala of about 40 years old and Jibawa Maikudi of about 32 years old were rescued from the side of the mosque,” it added.

The statement maintained that all victims were rescued alive and conveyed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
