Kano Vigilante Group Investigates Removal Of Bride's Eye

Khadija Abdullahi lost her eye when members of a vigilant group started hitting everyone their hands could reach at her wedding

Kano Vigilant Group says men accused of hitting wedding guests, including the bride are not part of Kano certified vigilant group.

The State Chairman of the self-help group, Shehu Rabi'u said they received information about the unfortunate incident.

Speaking to AllNews Nigeria on Monday via a phone call, he said the accused men are part of the "Ubale Badawa vigilante group, and not the government-backed group", which he represents.

He said the government-backed self-help group has inaugurated a committee to investigate the occurrence, before taking the next best step.

Shehu Rabi'u said, "just as you heard the story, that's how the story got to us. We have formed a committee and if there is any member from our side, we would ensure the law is allowed to take its course".

He added that " no one is above the law", saying the group is on top of the serious issue.

A bride, Khadija Abdullahi lost one of her eyes when some vigilant members stormed her wedding, hitting everyone they could.

She called for swift justice for a grave misdeed meted to her.
