Karma Launches New, Cheaper GS-6e Model

Karma Launches New, Cheaper GS-6e Model

Karma Automotive has launched its newest hybrid car, the GS 6 nearly half the original price of the company's ultra-luxury sedan, the Revero GT, in a bid to reach a much wider set of customers.

The original Karma design dates back to the financial crises of late 2000 - 2009 and the early days of the EV revolution, and still very much admired by automobile lovers.

Karma Revero or Fisker Karma still maintained its shape and design in its new GS-6 plug-in hybrid and GS-6e fully electric configurations.

GS-6e represents Karma's first pure electric, Zero-emission production vehicle sold for N 30,484,189.00 against N 55,869,260.00 its original price and will be powered by an 85 kWh battery sending juice to a pair of electric motors at the tear axle.

Range and performance rate were not stated but the budget Karma is likely to deliver performance figures that are sure to give its users the required satisfaction.

The battery is good for providing up to 80 miles (about 130 km) of pure electric driving, with a total range of 360 miles (about 530 km) with the gas engine factored in.

Regardless of which of the Karma models you chose, the GS-6 an extended-range electric vehicle (or EREV), is technically accurate. The rear wheels are driven solely by a pair of electric motors, one for each side, totaling 400 kilowatts, or about 536 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.

The GS-6S trim further boosts torque to 650 pound-feet. A 28-kilowatt-hour battery pack mounted beneath the floor provides an estimated range of about 61 to 80 miles per charge, depending on whether you're looking at the EPA's or Karma's own estimates.

The gasoline motor charges the battery powers the electric motors and extends the range to a total of about 360 miles. The combustion engine doesn't mechanically connect to the wheels, so it's not inaccurate to call this an electric car, but even Karma admits this car is really just a plug-in series hybrid, not unlike the Honda Clarity PHEV, the late Chevrolet Volt, or the aforementioned BMW i8.
