KAROTA intercepts Gang Falsifying Fertilizer Expiry Date

Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has discovered a large number of expired liquid fertilizers undergoing illegal date renewal.

The suspects identified themselves as Enoch Daniel, Promise, and Langila.

One of the suspects told KAROTA’s Managing Director, Engineer Faisal Mahmud Kabir, that they were from Plateau State and were in Kano purposely to work on date renewal on stickers of the expired liquid fertilizer.

He further explained that the fertilizer expired since 2020 and they are working on increasing the expiry date to 2027 to distribute to Kano markets.

The KAROTA Boss who was visibly surprised by the mischievous act, as seen in a video, kept asking if all the cartons he saw would undergo the same expiry date change.

Engineer Kabir expressed delight for intercepting the process, noting that if it had passed unnoticed and distributed to markets, it would have resulted in a negative impact on farmlands, food products, and other farm produce that heavily rely on fertilizer, and by extension affect the health status of consumers.
