It will be recalled that Boko Haram before the release of the abducted students claimed responsibility for the abduction.

“I am Abubakar Shekau and our brothers are behind the kidnapping in Katsina,” said the leader of the group that was also behind the 2014 abduction of hundreds of schoolgirls in Chibok, in a voice message.

The Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram further released a video depicting that it has custody of the students abducted from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, last Friday.

The interview was cut short as the journalist was asked to move outside the hall where the students were seated.

Following the development, President Muhammadu Buhari asked the Police and army to go after the bandits and rescue the abducted schoolboys.

However, reports indicate that the release of the abducted schoolboys was initiated by Miyetti Allah.
