Katsina govt shutdown filling stations over alleged bandit f

The Katsina State government has shut down three filling stations suspected of supplying petrol to bandits.

The closures were carried out by the task force mandated to tackle grain hoarding and unjustified food price increases.

The Task Force Chairman Jabiru Salisu Tsauri, addressing reporters after the closures stated that the committee has the authority to detain suspects for up to 48 hours before beginning legal proceedings.

The chairman who also serves as the Chief of Staff to the governor Dikko Umaru Radda said it received an intel that the affected petrol stations were involved in supplying fuel to bandits during nighttime and early morning hours.

However, one affected businessman rebutted the claims.

"We operate our business with caution and would not engage in activities that could endanger the state’s security,” he said.
