Katsina: Police Arrests Phone Snatchers, Other Criminals

Police in Katsina says it has arrested fifty-four suspected social miscreants/GSM phone snatchers terrorizing the state.

The command's image maker, CSP Gambo Isah made the disclosure in a statement.

He said the arrests were mae when police officers raided several locations within Katsina metropolitan area.

The raided areas include: Sabuwar Unguwa, Gadar Nayalli, Modoji, Tudun YanLihida, Kwabren Dorawa, Janbango, Abbatuwa, Filin Canada, Lambun Dankwai, Kofar Marusa, Tsalawa, and Chake among others.

The PPRO 23 year old Abdullahi Bala of Bakkai village, kankara local government was arrested during one of the raids on April 23 for threatening his father in law after a misunderstanding that sent his wife home.

“Then on the 23rd April, 2023, the suspect criminally conspired with one Badori, a notorious suspected armed bandit, now at large, went to the complainant’s house threatened him to send his daughter back to suspect’s house or risked been kidnapped."

He further said during the course of investigation the suspect was arrested and has confessed to the commission of the offence.

"On the 21st April, 2023 at about 0000hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Abdulrahman Ibrahim, m, age 17 years of Kofar Sauri quarters, katsina metropolis, a suspected notorious armed robber and phone snatcher.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he lured a phone dealer to an uncompleted building in the Modoji area of the state, attacked and stabbed the victim on his neck with a knife which resulted to the death of the victim.

“The Command is extending its appreciation to the members of the general public for their unflinching support to the Police and other sister security agencies in the state.

"The Command enjoins them to always report any suspicious person or group to the police through the police emergency lines: 08156977777, 09053872247,” he stated.

He said an investigation is still ongoing.
